Padfield's Summer of Fun

This August join us for a programme of free events in the heart of Padfield.

 

From live music, to theatre, to creative activities... there's something for everyone to enjoy!

Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund, we are offering a fantastic programme of events hosted by local creatives and business owners and they are ALL absolutely FREE!

This page will be updated with full details of the events and providers in due course. Sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities, unless otherwise stated, and there's no need to book for most sessions so just come along. Our Art Session and Wilder Words are limited to 15 spots only, so please be sure to book your free spot for these below.

The sessions...

Yoga sessions - Anneliese at Anahata Pure Heart Yoga

Anneliese lives in Padfield and offers yoga classes that help you to reconnect, reawaken, and restore.

She will be bringing her Mellow Flow Vinyasa Yoga to the Padfield Summer of Fun. Sessions will be is a gentle, flowing style of yoga that links movement with breath in a slow and mindful sequence of poses. Suitable for all levels, Mellow Flow Vinyasa creates a calming practice that helps quiet the mind, release tension, and cultivate a deeper connection between body and breath.

Glossop Military Fitness

GMF brings fun, varied and challenging fitness sessions in the great outdoors.

Andy will be hosting one fitness based class for adults only, and a fun activity session for all ages, including families.

Come along, get active and have fun!

Olta

Olta is a fabulous folky duo/trio who are bringing some live music to Temple Street Community Garden.

Be sure to bring chairs, blankets, some drinks and a picnic. Most importantly, bring your family and friends for this al fresco musical event!

Glossop Tai Chi

These sessions will be hosted by Richard Jones and are suitable for all abilities, including beginners.

 

Richard began Tai Chi in 1992 under the tutorage of Dr Paul Tien, who learned from his father who taught in Hong Kong and was a direct Student of brothers Yang Cheng-fu & Yang Shao Hao. The form Richard now teaches is 116 moves and is 100 years + old; practiced exactly as it was then.

Wilder Words - Mish Green

These creative writing sessions are your opportunity to get wild with words and be inspired by our beautiful green space. These sessions are suitable for all levels of writing experience, including those who haven't put pen to paper since school!

Bring something to sit on and something to write on and with (hardback notebooks recommended!)

Mish Green (they/them) is a writer living in Padfield. They have performed at many live events across the UK and beyond, and their stories have featured on BBC Radio 4 and in Short Fiction Journal, with poetry appearing in numerous anthologies and magazine. Their collection of short stories Jebel Marra (Comma Press 2015) was described by the Guardian as 'muscular', and 'exceptional' by the Irish Times. They also co-created and edited the TransBareAll anthology of work by trans writers and artists, and the accompanying podcast of the same name.

Sound Bath - Maureen at New Begninnings Wellbeing Therapies

A gentle, restorative 60minute Outdoor Sound Bath Experience with Maureen from NewBeginnings Wellbeing Therapies. This soothing experience invites you to slow down, settle in and connect with the nature that surrounds
you. Expect a sense of presence, peace, and calm as therapeutic sound washes through and around you.


Come exactly as you are and bring anything you need to feel comfortable — mats, blankets, cushions, or cosy layers. A nourishing pause for the whole community.

Maureen is a Reiki Master Teacher, Crystal & Sound Therapist, Cacao Facilitator & Mindfulness & Meditation Teacher offering treatments and training to re-balance the body, mind and spirit and improve overall well-being. She has been hosting 

Here Be Dragons! - immersive storytelling performance with
Babbling Vagabonds

This hour long adventure is a unique outdoor walkabout theatrical adventure. Join two Monster Menders and embark on a quest to defeat a dragon. Featuring funny puppets, cheeky characters, and audience interaction, this show is a creative adventure that works brilliantly in an outdoor setting.


Babbling Vagabonds are a theatre company who love stories. Their work lives in everyday spaces: schools, halls, outdoors, libraries and communities where people gather. Each project they take on is rooted in connection, imagination and play.

Art session - Michelle Shore 

Michelle is an artist and art tutor based in the Peak District. In 2015, she left her corporate job and decided to change her life and follow her lifelong dream of becoming an artist. 

As an illustrator, drawing is Michelle’s first love. She works and tutors in a variety of mediums and specialises in drawing in fine line ink and watercolour. She enjoys working with narratives and is inspired by stories, myth, local folklore and the beauty of the inner magic of the natural world. An avid hill walker, she gets a lot of her inspiration from the landscape. Every picture tells a story and Michelle likes to capture the story within.
